Smoothen the lines on your face and achieve a more youthful appearance
What is Botox?
Botox is one brand of many among injectables called neurotoxins. In trained hands, administering neurotoxins is safe and can provide dramatic, albeit temporary, improvements in facial wrinkles, or rhytides. Neurotoxins are not facial fillers! The former help relax muscles, which may reduce visible lines temporarily, while the latter help fill lines or areas of deficient soft tissue. Dr. Patel can help point out these differences and help you decide the best approach for your budget.

Dr. Patel strives for beautiful, natural-looking results. He will counsel you against treatment if it gives you an aesthetically abnormal appearance or may not give you the best result for your investment. Results with neurotoxins are best when maintained over time with regular appointments.
Typical areas of treatment include rhytides of the forehead, of the glabella (the tissue between your eyebrows), and the crow’s feet (smile lines along the sides of your eyes).
There are other areas of the face and body for which neurotoxins are considered “off label.” This includes the use of Botox to help provide a mild lift to the tails of your eyebrows, to treat platysmal neck bands, and to help reduce a sweating disorder called hyperhidrosis of the armpits, palms, or soles of the feet. Dr. Patel is familiar with all of these uses and will help make the best use of your injectables budget.

What to expect after a Botox treatment
Neurotoxins typically last anywhere from 3–4 months, although some patients may be “high metabolizers” and require more frequent treatments or may need to switch up brands due to immune tolerance. Results typically kick in at about one week following treatment, reach their peak through one month, and then gradually fade away over the following months. Botox will never work right away!
Best candidates for Botox
You’re a good candidate for Botox treatment if you:
- Are a generally healthy adult
- Have moderate facial wrinkles
- Have wrinkles that are located in injectable areas around the eyes, forehead, and neck
- Set realistic expectations for this treatment
Botox FAQs
Botox can last anywhere from 3 to 6 months. It is not uncommon for certain injections to only last up to 2 months. However, if it is your first time receiving Botox treatment, you might find that the effect lasts 3 to 4 months, but it usually lasts longer after subsequent treatments.
Not if you follow Dr. Patel’s guidance and instructions carefully. By opting for too much too soon, you might see an “overdone” or “unnatural” look, but Dr. Patel’s knowledge and experience will prevent that outcome for your Botox treatment.
No, Botox treatment is for all healthy adults that have visible wrinkles in certain areas of their head and neck. If you want to find the right solution for your facial wrinkles, contact Dr. Patel.
